As promised, here is the pattern for the afghan. It's pretty easy if you know how to crochet. If you don't, and you want to learn how, there's TONS of good videos on You Tube, so go buy some yarn and a hook, and get goin'! Then come back, and use this pattern to make an afghan!
Row 1: ch 122
Row 2: hdc in 3rd st from hook, hdc in every st to end of the row.
Row 3: ch. 1, sc in first st., skip 2 st's, then make 5 dc's in next st, skip 2 st's, sc in next st, repeat until end of the row
Row 4: ch. 3, then do 2 dc in first st. skip 2 st's, 5 dc's in next st, skip 2 st's, sc in next st, skip 2 st's, repeat until last st, then do 3 dc's in last st.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until it's as long as you want it.
Once it's as long as you want it, finish it off with a row of hdc in each st.
Then, add the scalloped trimming, and you're done!

I love it! I want to attempt to make one.
How do you add the scalloped trimming at the end?

What size hook did you use? I really like your afghan.
Love the afghan - what size hook did you use and what are the dimensions? Thanks!

Anyone know what size hook????
Thanks
I would use whatever size hook your type of yarn recommends. It should say on the label. Weight 4 usually recommends a size G or H, while weight 5 may need an I, J or even K.
This is a great afghan but I'm having trouble making sense of row 4.
Does the repeat include the first 3 ch? ie is it:
Row 4: *ch. 3, then do 2 dc in first st. skip 2 st's, 5 dc's in next st, skip 2 st's, sc in next st, skip 2 st's*, repeat until last st, then do 3 dc's in last st.
OR
Row 4: ch. 3, then do *2 dc in first st. skip 2 st's, 5 dc's in next st, skip 2 st's, sc in next st, skip 2 st's*, repeat until last st, then do 3 dc's in last st.
Or something else? I've tried it both ways and neither seems to line up properly.
Thank you!
Thanks for the reply
Cathy
Hi I am interested in making the blanket larger. What multiple should I use for my initial chain. Also I need clarification on row 4 and the repeat. Thank you for your work and I wait to hear from you.
Hey everyone, Sarah here...
It seems there's a bit of a blip in the pattern somewhere. I am going to look it over this weekend and make the necessary changes. Also many have asked what size hook I used. I know WHICH hook I used, but we recently moved, and I forgot what size was printed on it. I need to find the hook in all my craft storage, so I can let you know. Sorry to keep you all hanging for so long. We've moved in the last couple of months, and I'm full term with baby #4, so life has been a little hectic to say the least! Thanks for taking a look at my blog!
Hello! When you post the update to the pattern corrections and the size hook, I would love to be on the email list to receive it! Would like to start this project! THank you so much!
I am an amateur dont know what dc st's etc. Is there any way you can or anyone explain it so I can learn, its so pretty. My email is jamiletoledo@gmail.com is there maybe a video?
Hi Sarah. I'm new here and also a beginner, trying to find my way around crochet speak!! ;-) Like the others, I'm lining up for updates on your gorgeous Living Room Afghan pattern. Am interested in the yarn you used, the hook size you used, and of course...clarification on Row 4 and repeat. It would be handy to also know the multiple for initial chain to increase the size of the Afghan. Thanks heaps.
If bubs has arrived, a hearty congratulations from Down Under! God's richest blessings.
Heather
I would assume it is a worsted weight yarn and a G or H hook.
For the beginners, dc is a double crochet. There are many websites that will explain pattern abbreviations and show how to do the stitches.
